U.S. Army seeks comments on a draft programmatic agreement for environmental restoration activities at the Fort Wingate Depot Activity, New Mexico

FORT WORTH, Texas – Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today the Army is seeking public comments on the draft Programmatic Agreement entitled, “Programmatic Agreement Among the Department of the Army, the New Mexico State Historic Preservation Officer, the Navajo Nation, the Pueblo of Zuni, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Regarding the Base Realignment and Closure Installation Action Plan and Disposal Activities Fort Wingate Depot Activity, New Mexico” that is located at www.ftwingate.org.  The Programmatic Agreement outlines how the Army addresses Cultural Resources during the Army’s cleanup and restoration activities required under its Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) Permit EPA #NM6213820974.

The process for public comment is outlined in 36 CFR Part 800, of the regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) (54 U.S.C. § 306108), and the Army is seeking public comment on the draft Programmatic Agreement for 30 calendar days beginning on April 16.  Please submit all comments to the Army’s Base Realignment and Closure Division (BRACD) Base Environmental Coordinator George H.
