HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- The contract for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers enterprise information technology support services was awarded to Science Applications International Corporation Nov. 30.
The new $1.2 billion-over-five-year contract replaces the Army Corps of Engineers Information Technology Enterprise Services – Next Generation (AIES-NG) contract.
The new SAIC contract, known as Revolutionary Information Technology Services (RITS) provides solutions that have an integrated, enterprise-wide focus to deliver shared IT services that align USACE OCIO/G-6 services with the needs of its customers and end users.
Transition activities are in coordination between the USACE OCIO/G6 Office, Huntsville Center’s Facility Technology Integration Division and both contractors to ensure integration to the new contract is seamless.
The goal for the new RITS contract is to provide a modern and secure enterprise-wide IT support for more than 37,000 users in 43 geographic districts and 1,500 plus field and project offices around the world.
Some of the key objectives for the contract are: continual modernization of USACE’s portfolio of IT systems; deliver enterprise-wide IT solutions that are well-integrated, flexible, and adaptable across all IT service areas, with the ability to rapidly scale in response to USACE dynamic business environment; develop a balance between delivering tactical support (operations and maintenance) and strategic support (development, modernization, and enhancement) that achieves operational and cost efficiencies while positioning USACE stakeholders and end users to fulfill their mission.
Despite the magnitude of the change, end-users can expect continuity in operations, processes and support, said Ron Brook, Huntsville Center FTI-A program manager.
“All parties are committed to a transition plan which address an array of elements to include schedule, knowledge transfer, staffing, facilities preparation, communications and risk management,” Brook said.
The change will transition acquisition and contract support for the USACE CIO/G6 Office from Huntsville Center to either the RITS contract or to the Humphries Engineer Support Center Activity (HECSA).
No impacts are expected to USACE operations to include management of waterways, dams, or public recreation areas.
