Southwestern Division Recreation

Overview
The US Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division provides quality recreational opportunities. Over 74,000,000 people visit our lakes and parks and contribute $2.5 billion in visitor spending annually to the regional economy. SWD provides a wide array of recreational opportunities at our three million acres of public lands and waters at 88 lake projects.  Recreational activities include boating, swimming, bird watching, fishing, hiking, and camping. The majority of our recreation areas are located within fifty miles of a major urban center.

Mission

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is the steward of the lands and waters at Corps water resources projects. Its Natural Resources Management (NRM) Mission is to manage and conserve those natural resources, consistent with ecosystem management principles, while providing quality public outdoor recreation experiences, to serve the needs of present and future generations.
