DALLAS—The Southwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has named Mr. Brian Kamisato as the Acting Director of the Regional Business Directorate at the Division headquarters here beginning Oct. 21.  Kamisato will manage the operations of the Regional Business Center and oversee three divisions: the Business Technical Division, Business Management Division, and Business Resources Division. He will lead the regional governance boards and synchronize activities with a particular focus on regional issues.  Kamisato will serve in this position until the arrival or Mr. Pete Perez, whose permanent selection for the position and appointment to the Senior Executive Service was announced last month.

“We are very pleased to have Brian Kamisato bring his professional expertise and commitment to both the mission and to people to this critical position,” said Brig. Gen. Thomas W. Kula, Southwestern Division commander.  “His extensive engineering background will serve him well as he leads the Regional Business Directorate and its cadre of talented people in achieving Fiscal Year 2014 Regional Priorities.”

Kamisato has been the chief of the Military Integration Division in the SWD Programs Directorate since October 2011. Prior to his assignment with the Southwestern Division, he served as the deputy chief, Business Technical Division, for the Northwestern Division from 2007-2011.  Other assignments have included the deputy chief, Programs and Project Management Division, for the Afghanistan Engineer District-North, various program manager positions within the Pacific Ocean Division, the Japan Engineer District, and U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii.

Kamisato holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Hawaii.  He also holds Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to serve in this role,  and will continue to move us forward as a region,” Kamisato said.  “I will focus on our FY14 Regional Priorities and will help to position our Districts for continued success.  We are facing some unprecedented challenges and these challenges also bring tremendous opportunity for the Southwestern Division and the Corps of Engineers to demonstrate our relevance and value to the Nation.”
