A Patriot Day Bronze Star for Texas Rangers coach

ARLINGTON, TEXAS--Texas Rangers bench coach Bobby Jones receives the citation for the Bronze Star Medal, awarded for his service in Vietnam.  Presenting the award was Col. Richard J. Muraski Jr., deputy commander of the   Southwestern Division, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.  The presentation took place during a special pre-game observance of Patriots Day at the Texas Rangers stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 11.   Also presented in a display case were Jones’ other Vietnam-era medal.  Jones served as the artillery section chief in a Howitzer battery, and was discharged in 1971.  The noise from the weapons caused hearing loss, and Jones wears hearing aids today because his service in Vietnam.  Joining him for the presentation are his wife Debbie Jones and his nephew Michael Richards.  (Photo by Kelly Gavin/Texas Rangers)
