Reed returns to North Texas to command the Southwestern Division

Col. Kenneth N. Reed took command of the Southwestern Division, May 5, in a ceremony officiated by Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Reed assumed command from Brig. Gen. Christopher G. Beck, who has served as the commander since 2020. Beck will move to Fort Hood, Texas, to serve as the Deputy Commanding General, III Corps.

SWD welcomes Brown as new deputy commander

DALLAS—Col. Kevin S. Brown became the Deputy Commander of the Southwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on Aug. 13, 2018. Prior to this assignment, he was the Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Army Engineer School in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

President Donald Trump recently appointed Maj. Gen. Richard G. Kaiser as the president of the Mississippi River Commission and Col. Paul E. Owen as a member of the commission. Commission appointments are nominated by the President of the U.S. and vetted by the U.S. Senate.

Hill to take command of Corps’ Southwestern Division, confirmed for brigadier general

DALLAS—Colonel David C. Hill, who is slated to take command of the Southwestern Division, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Dallas in July, has been confirmed for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General by the United States Senate. Hill will take over leadership of the Southwestern Division in a ceremony here on July 24. The actual promotion date is yet to be determined but is normally several months after Senate confirmation.
