  • Lifesaving awards presented to Eufaula Lake rangers, Oklahoma trooper

    TULSA, Okla.- The off-road vehicle area at Eufaula Lake is a popular place for visitors during summer holidays, but for two cousins, their visit almost took a tragic turn. After nearly drowning, the two had to be rescued. Oklahoma Marine Enforcement Section Trooper Danny Choate and Eufaula Lake park rangers Eric Fassio and Chris Gilliland participated in the rescue and were recently recognized for their efforts with lifesaving awards presented by Tulsa District commander Col. Michael Teague.

  • Tulsa District, state and industry officials discuss water, navigation at Association meeting

    OKLAHOMA CITY--Col. Michael Teague, Tulsa District commander, recently participated on a water panel during the Western States Land Commissioners Association winter meeting in Oklahoma City. Bob Portiss, Port of Catoosa director, and Steven Greetham, Chief General Counsel for the Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce, also participated in the panel.

  • Altus Air Force Base JP8 Fuel Line Reestablished

    ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District is scheduled to begin replacing a Jet Propellant 8 fuel line here that will increase ground refueling capabilities for KC-135 Stratotankers, Jan. 23. The construction project will establish an eight-inch steel pipeline, which will connect the bulk fuel storage area to the tanker ramp, providing a more reliable and efficient way to refuel.

  • Fort Worth District awards $648 million Fort Bliss replacement hospital contract

    FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District awarded a $648 million contract January 29, to Clark McCarthy Healthcare Partners II for the construction of the Fort Bliss Replacement Hospital. The new 1,132,000 square-foot facility will replace the existing William Beaumont Army Medical Center to accommodate the increased troop presence and dependent care resulting from the recent Fort Bliss expansion program.

  • Corps of Engineers teams up with Bass Pro Shops for 2013 Water Safety projects

    DALLAS - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bass Pro Shops are kicking off the 2013 water recreation season with plans for new joint projects to help spread the word on water and boating safety, as well as environmental protection. The two organizations signed a partnership agreement late last year to develop potential projects that can be accomplished in the near term and in the future, such as those that improve fish habitat and focus on water and boater safety education. They are now ready to implement new measures to make the agreement a reality.

    SWD is recognized for outstanding water safety contributions by LaDonna Davis DALLAS - Employees from the Southwestern Division U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were named the recipients of the region four National Water Safety Congress awards for their outstanding contributions to water safety throughout 2012.
