    DALLAS--The core values of an organization are those that form the very fabric of an organization, the guiding principles that people use for both job performance and conduct. In the U.S. Army, these are called the Army Values, and they form the acronym LDRSHIP: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. Army Values are American values, and soldiers must live these values more intensely and professionally than most others in civilian life because soldiers serve to protect the Nation and the values upon which it was founded. So they learn these values in detail during their basic combat training and live these values everyday in everything they do.
  • Hill to take command of Corps’ Southwestern Division, confirmed for brigadier general

    DALLAS—Colonel David C. Hill, who is slated to take command of the Southwestern Division, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Dallas in July, has been confirmed for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General by the United States Senate. Hill will take over leadership of the Southwestern Division in a ceremony here on July 24. The actual promotion date is yet to be determined but is normally several months after Senate confirmation.

  • SWD team earns Gold Hermes Creative Award for JFK 50th series

    DALLAS—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division and two of its associated Districts earned a Gold Award from the Hermes Creative Awards Competition for their special coverage series “The JFK 50th Anniversary and the Army Corps of Engineers.” Recognized by the award were Edward Rivera and Andre Mayeaux, Fort Worth District Public Affairs, for feature article and video of 57-year Fort Worth District employee remembering JFK assassination; Kent Cummins, formerly of the Little Rock District Public Affairs Office, for JFK dedication of Greers Ferry Dam feature article; and Martie Cenkci, Southwestern Division Public Affairs Office, for commentary and feature articles.     DALLAS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division hosted a Relinquishment of Command, today at the City Club in Dallas.
  • Standing up the Regional Planning and Environmental Center

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reorganized much of its environmental and planning functions across three districts in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas within the Southwestern Division into a new Regional Planning and Environmental Center. The new organization, managed by the Fort Worth District, will combine 105 employees from the Fort Worth, Tulsa and Galveston Districts.
